Michal Belknap, adjunct professor of modern American legal and constitutional history in the Department of History, has been named Earl Warren Professor of Law at his home institution, San Diego's California Western School of Law. Belknap's particular area of interest is the history of civil rights and civil liberties in 20th century America. (12.13.07)

The official groundbreaking ceremony for UCSD's $53 million Music Building was held on May 25th at the site located on Rupertus Drive and Russell Lane, near Gilman Drive. Expected to open in the spring of 2009, the state-of-the-art facility includes a 400-seat concert hall, designed in conjunction with celebrated acoustician Cyril M. Harris. UCSD's music building will be named The Conrad Prebys Music Center in honor of the Point Loma developer and philanthropist who has donated $6 million. (5.29.07)
