New Chapter for Alumni Affairs

Alumna Christine de Pagter, ’90, is the newly appointed person in a newly created position: assistant director of alumni affairs in Arts and Humanities.

A UC San Diego graduate of Warren College, Christine is a passionate advocate for her alma mater. She has served two different tenures in the Office of Alumni Affairs, at different stages of her career, and during vastly different eras. She began her career in advancement work in April of 1994 when the Alumni Association had a staff of only four. After five years at the university, she went on to work in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries, managing client development with emphasis on marketing and sales. Specializing in the cardiovascular therapeutics and drug development market sector, Christine enjoyed working at both ends of the corporate spectrum, providing development strategies at two small start-up biotech companies and then at Abbott Laboratories.

After a brief hiatus from the corporate sector to spend time with her two young daughters, she was lured back by the UCSD Alumni Association to serve in an interim role last year, as the manager for chapters and constituent relations.

In her current capacity as assistant director of alumni affairs in Arts and Humanities, Christine will help support efforts in advancing alumni activities and programs designed to create meaningful relationships, engagement and a life-long commitment between alumni, the Division of Arts and Humanities and the university.
